Batman: Arkham City’s newest resident is Nightwing in DLC trailer

It seems every game this day has to add multiplayer just to stay competitive, but developer Rocksteady stuck with making a great single player experience in Batman: Arkham City and we think it paid off big time. There’s just so much going on, and even if you somehow manage to do everything in the sprawling town, the team is keeping things fresh with new DLC featuring some of our favorite friends of the Bat. Today we got some of our first footage of the Nightwing DLC, as we see the former Boy Wonder and all his fancy tricks.

He started life as Batman’s first sidekick, and eventually Dick Grayson grew out of the Robin persona and became solo vigilante Nightwing. Despite doing his own thing, Dick still helps out Bats occasionally, and that includes helping him beat up thugs that sometimes sound like Nathan Drake voice actor Nolan North. As you can see from the trailer, Nightwing plays a bit differently from Batman, with electrified sticks and wrist darts that temporarily turn Arkham into a first person shooter.

You won’t be taking Nightwing through Arkham City proper, as he’s confined to the challenge maps in the game, but he comes with two original challenge maps, Wayne Manor and Main Hall, which sound like a nice change from the snowy streets of Arkham City. Nightwing also comes with his own Animated Series skin, so you can make him look like like he did during the later run of episodes in the Bruce Timm/Paul Dini series.

The DLC goes on sale November 1 for 560 MS points or $5.99 on PSN.

Totally with what everyone else said. I love Nightwing, and If I do get the game, i'll probably buy the DLC, but it's a massive let-down that you can't even use him in the story mode, not even as a re-skin. I also never bothered with the challenge maps in AA, so only getting to use him in AC's... Well, sucks.

Agreed it is expensive plus the Robin challenge coming soon will cost the same, thats like nearly 20 pounds for challenge rooms with new characters. I like most comments would like them to be involved in their own story like Catwomen that would be worth it, not sure about this though, the game is great as it is.

So, I'm officially bummed. As a Nightwing fan, I'd been looking forward to buying this. But he doesn't even say a word and you can't take him into Arkham City? Hmmm . . . I never did much in the challenge rooms in AA, I doubt I will when I finish Arkham City. If the ever update and let him wander into Arkham City and consider adding some voice work, I'd be interested, but $7 seems really steep for two new Challenge Rooms I likely won't play much and Nightwing only being available in Challenge Rooms.

I would love to see more characters like this coming, but I want to use them in the single player campaign, with their own sory. They would be a nice chnge of pace. A little off-topic: Btw, I think in head-on combat, catwoman is way better than bats, simply because she is faster. Batman is better in the predatory-sneaky fights, because of his huge arsenal of gadgets.

She's devastating. Her lightning quick attacks easily flow from foe to foe, the only problem i have with her is that her ground takedown move is horribly slow. With batman, you need to methodically attack, using your gadgets to make it easier. With him its not mashing the attack button with a pause for counter like it is with catwoman, you need to slowly attack and prioritize.

Are they going to add more story content? I know it's already stuffed with villains but I love seeing their take on characters.

If these came with a short Campaign like the Catwoman DLC and usage in story, I would buy it. I would even pay more for it! Don't think it's worth it just for use in Challenge maps even though Nightwing and Robin are badass.

I'm really excited for this. I wish you could play as Robin in the campaign because I loved how he handled in the challenge maps. I think he actually handles better then Batman!
