Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag Buried Treasure Guide

The Assassin’s Creed series has always had its generous sprinkling of treasure chests, in every city from Boston to Constantinople. They’ve never been hard to find, especially after you manage to synchronize with a given area. There’s an abundance of such rewards in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag but there’s also a new category of treasure very much suited for the 18th century Caribbean Islands: buried treasure. And this wouldn’t be a pirate game without a treasure map, which you actually need in order to find these riches. Seriously, the “dig” prompt won’t appear unless you have the corresponding map, so you can’t accidentally come across a buried chest (however unlikely). That’s why we’ve compiled this complete list of all the maps and their respective treasures.

Please help me!! I have successfully completed the Scarlatina fleet mission twice now and was NEVER rewarded the treasure map for the Elite Fire Barrel Storage Plans like everyone has been stating? Can only assume this is a major glitch in the game? My jackdaw is fully maxed out except this LAST UPGRADE. So bummed...anyone have any suggestions?

Can you find the hidden treasure during memories?

You're advice about facing the ship, then turning 180 degrees would have worked perfectly..... IF my ship had been in same cove that yours apparently was. I spent several confused moments roaming around (and fighting jaguars) until I thought to look at the minimap on your screenshot to see where I needed to be. If you fast travel to that location, it must bring the ship to a different spot?

You guys do decent guides but your indexes leave much to be desired. You have no better way of identifying these buried treasures (IE: the coordinates the game uses) except by some arbitrary number that requires me to click through every page? Come on now. Wouldn't page views be more valuable if you had higher click throughs.

Old thread, I know, but question anyway.... Is the uplay exclusive map only on a specific platform or was it a limited time thing? Working with xbox one and have not seen a uplay reward for the map.

yeah that was pretty stupid, though no offense the article was great otherwise. I just used this one instead, they did the obvious thing of linking by coordinates at the top http://digitalblare.com/guide-find-assassins-creed-4-buried-chests/
  • EzioGT - November 5, 2013 6:28 a.m.

Good walkthrough, but not great. The flaw ? It's the links being named "treasure 1", "treasure 2", etc... instead of "633,745", "70,584", etc... (namely, the actual coordinates we need to find each treasure). Making us hunt an specific treasure for a specific coordinate on a page-by-page basis is not cool.

    a* specific...

I can't find #15 (992,422). No fort, no land, no treasure. Any ideas?
  • michael-bray - November 3, 2013 12:57 p.m.

I looked at the fleet missions in eastern british colonies and no empty cellar mission?
  • landon-castro - November 2, 2013 11:52 a.m.

cant find the one for 502,44
  • dgenerator95 - November 2, 2013 10:46 a.m.

I had the same problem with the ship not being there but I eventually found the treasure.
  • jitske - November 3, 2013 6:55 a.m.

That's because the ship will be there after a specific memory. I thought sequence 3, memory 6.
  • jackster1991 - November 2, 2013 5:51 a.m.

On # 4 it might be a glitch but i spent close to 30mins looking for a stranded ship but there was none finally found the treasure though
