Android app pairs mobile games with PS3 controllers

Like playing games on your phone, but hate using your gigantic, game-dominating hands on an itty-bitty touch screen? Enjoy the convenience of carrying around your own PlayStation controller, but hate trying to squeeze your television into a backpack? Then you'll be delighted to hear the Sixaxis Controller app makes many mobile Android phones and tablets compatible with the Sixaxis and DualShock 3 PlayStation controllers.

The app’s developer, Dancing Pixel Studios, has released a video which explains how to get the app working and shows it in action.

The software supports up to four controllers at once as Bluetooth devices. The buttons and control sticks are fully customizable, but root access is required for the app to work. To check if your device is compatible with Sixaxis Controller, you can use the free Sixaxis Compatibility Checker app.

Sixaxis Controller is available in the Android Market for $1.66.

this solution would be great with ipad - some games work great with only touch screen, but what about fps, tpp, brawlers etc. - that would better with buttons

the best use for this is to put some emulators on your phone and hook it up to your tv using an micro hdmi-hdmi cable.

I like the idea simply because you can buy the game for your mobile device, then hook it up to your TV for local gaming. On simple games such as this, it prevents you from having to buy it multiple times. It'd also be neat to play some phone-only games controller wise on a TV with the proper cabling.

This is a brilliant idea! They called me crazy for carrying a SixAxis around all day, but who's laughing now? Haha. Muahaha. AHAHAHAHAHAHA!
