Halo 4: enemies are "definitely not Covenant," Cortana goes berserk

Master Chief has a brand new breed of trouble on his hands. According to the trailer just shown by Microsoft at E3, Earth's mightiest Spartan will be fighting some enemies that are definitely not Covenant, and "definitely not organic."

It looks like this new enemy isn't the only artificial form of life giving the Master Chief trouble. Voice-over by Cortana declared that the AI assistant was nearing her expiration date.

"AIs deteriorate after seven years," she declared, noting that she had been active for eight. This is followed by footage of her going berserk.

The trailer also revealed new weapons in the Cheif's arsenal, including a self-assembling nano-tech rifle and an infrared vision that highlights enemies.

This story is still breaking, so check back in the coming minutes for more Halo 4 at E3 news.

"enemies definitely not convenant" ??? but it shows you fighting covenant in the demo? Shouldn't we be at peace with them not killing grunts as shown in the demo? I'm confused

Your confused before finishing the story? That hasn't happened before in a Halo game...

Yeah, I have the theory that the covenant in that world have been ther for years, lost before peace. Thet could explain the intro, maybe they are not enemies later...

Let me guess, he will join forces with some guys from the covenent (kind of like H2)to beat this new enemy, and cortona will join this enemy for a short while untill she fights their control just enough to sacerfice herself for the chief, chief will then do something impossible and die from it, then after the credits there will be a scene of him in some form, perhaps with his mask off. Someone record this cause i think im right

There is no covenant after halo 3, just two opposing elite factions in a civil war. One faction wants to be allies with humanity, (arbiters followers), the other wants to destroy humanity and become the dominant species (zealots). When cortana goes through rampancy she will act like someone with mental health issues like paranoia, alzimers and schizophrenia, kinda like guilty spark. This is a new trilogy based on master chief so if he dies it won't be until the third game. According to the background lore for the book forerunners and humans have hated and killed each other for millions of years. Humans could withstand the flood while the forerunners couldn't, in a last ditch attempt the forerunners preserved all intelligent species after firing the halos in the hope that they would later defeat the flood. The forunners then took safety within shield worlds and with the flood gone the forerunners are trying to take back what they once had. Captcha was pooplac neglect.

Everytime they demo a new halo all I ever see is the same thing from the previous iterations. When will microsoft let halo die in peace?

It looks good. definatly Halo, deifinatley fresh. Only thing is that big enemy is basically a Warhammer Warp Spider in Tron armor.

Well, usually enemies are all slight iterations or conglomerations of others. Halo Combat evolved released in 2001, with The Fall of Reach book even earlier. I'd say it's safe to say that they didn't copy them (of course I could be wrong). Besides, if you looks at the body structure, legs, face, it clearly looks like an elite (Sangheili) with two weapon arms. The only thing that intrigued me was the back part and the ability which I really cannot explain.

Looks better than I thought, amazing! Can't wait for this :D

It certainly looks a hell lot prettier and eye catching than Halo 3 did even back when announced. Still don't really miss having a 360 again for this.
  • zombi3grim - June 4, 2012 2:12 p.m.

The sole reason to own an Xbox 360. PS3 may have more exclusives, but none of them hold a candle to Halo.

Yeah, you keep believing that pal.
