3DS Fire Emblem coming to US, says Nintendo on Twitter and not at E3 as that would be too logical

Nintendo has announced that RPG favourite Fire Emblem: Awakening for 3DS will be coming to the US at some as-yet-unspecified point in the future. There's no other details, but it's still great news.

In fact, if we were Nintendo we would consider it to be the sort of news our fans would want us to shout about. But in true, completely inexplicable Nintendo style, it chose not to (despite having a glorious opportunity in the shape of an E3 conference in front of an expectant worldwide audience or - failing that - at yesterday's dedicated 3DS software showcase, where the order of the day was to highlight new and upcoming 3DS games like, say, Fire Emblem: Awakening).

But that would have made too much sense.

Above: This is one explanation

Instead, after yesterday's 3DS software showcase Nintendo of America president and part-time stand-up comedian, Reggie Fils-Aime, happened to mention it to some journalists. And then they went and started telling people. This unofficial dissemination of information was authenticated when Nintendo took to Twitter saying in no more than 140 characters that:

'We are excited to confirm a NEW game announcement coming to the US: the new 3DS Fire Emblem! More info to come.'

Obviously Nintendo was so excited it completely forgot to mention it at any point during its dedicated E3 press briefings. But, still, Fire Emblem 3DS. Yay.

No news on a European version, but we're sure Nintendo will keep us in the loop with all the latest info.

I'm just happy to get a confirmation, even if they aren't giving a date. I'll be on the lookout for it.

This was literally the only reason I watched their conferences. Great job, Nintendo, I can tell that you're giving this series a ton of thought and care. I'm sure the localization will be fantastic with the effort you're showing.

Hopefully the only reason it wasn't at E3 was because it hasn't been translated enough to show yet. I hope they just don't care, because this game looks like it could be one of the series' best.

I have never been a Fire Emblem fan, even after the countless times of trying to play some of the games. However, I'm excited that Nintendo fans received some good news. It truly is a challenge to figure out Nintendo's logic when it comes to presenting, but I think Nintendo says one thing and does another. The company says it listens to us - Sataru Iwata posted a picture of him and his team reading comments after the Nintendo Direct presentation - but, in reality, it doesn't listen: Nintendo just does what it wants to do. They are the innovators, after all.

There are no words to describe how awesome this is. I love Fire Emblem, and this one looks like one of the best. Hopefully release won't be too far off. I guess I'll just play Fire Emblem 7 again to pass the time.

Like I mentioned yesterday in another post, this news alone is for me, far more exciting than anything they unveiled in the actual press conference >_>
