$200 12 GB PS3 coming to North America, reports say

A new $200 PlayStation 3 unit is about to go on sale in North America, if several sources are accurate. Engadget reports that the 12 GB flash super-slim model will hit stores on August 18, backed up by retail listings and an alleged photo from a Kmart back room.

The 12 GB model was launched in Europe and Hong Kong in October, but SCEA told Engadget the West wouldn't see the flash-based model. Looks like the company spoke too soon--hard drives are always upgradeable, after all.

Do you think you could make do with 12 GB of built-in storage for a $200 PS3?

I owned this exact model in Australia for a few months then sold it because it was rubbish, i was gonna add my own hard drive which was all good and well, but you have to buy an additional "Sony Caddy" which is complete bullshit. Bad Form Sony.

"The 12 GB model was launched in 'Europe' and Hong Kong in October, but SCEA told Engadget the 'West' wouldn't see the flash-based model" Since when has the UK not been in the 'West'? Did nobody tell me?

I thinks it's just part to marketing for PS4, There is no doubt about PS4, it's awesome console, just 12 GB of storage is not good option for gamer..

Probably the smartest way to get a ps3 since storage can be replaced easily
