Robert Rodriguez has been busily assembling a crack squad of leading ladies for his next directorial outing, with Zoe Saldana the latest Hollywood starlet to sign on for Machete Kills .
Saldana joins Jessica Alba, Sofia Vergara, Amber Heard and Michelle Rodriguez for the B-movie follow-up, and star Danny Trejo is understandably thrilled by the lineup.
"[ It ] is going to be a lot more over-the-top than Machete ," says Trejo. "We’ve got Sofia Vergara, who is a star in her own right, Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez and Zoe Saldana. And guess what? I get to kiss all of ‘em."
Machete Kills will see Trejo's character hired by the US government to battle his way through Mexico in order to thwart an arms dealer with plans to launch a weapon into space. That would be the "over-the-top" element Trejo referred to, then…
Machete Kills has yet to receive an official release date, but is expected to arrive in the first half of 2013. And did we mention, Mel Gibson's in it? We really should have done...
