“I expect 2010 will see substantial upgrades in the dashboard, as well as the addition of Sky TV besides other online services. Upgrades in Home, firmware and not forgetting the motion controllers, which could see some really cool interactions with the EyeToy.
“Obviously the racing highlight will be the vast Gran Turismo 5, this could see a possible surprise announcement of new licenses and modes. It’s about time a new Ridge Racer hit the scene. GRID 2 is also on the cards for late summer. E3 could potentially be big for Sony. It’ll be interesting to see the new generation third party titles that are optimising PS3 hardware performance.

Gran Turismo 5 has to be demonstrably superior to Forza 3, Need for Speed Shift and Split/Second. The Last Guardian will be next year’s Uncharted 2, but it needs support. Final Fantasy XIII and BioShock 2 will be must-buys, but no bragging rights with Xbox 360 owners there. “Motion control... motion control and motion control. With Natal moving into viewin 2010 at a commodified price (according to sources close to everybody), the PS3 needs its ‘Gem’ or ‘Sphere’ or ‘Dildo’ to hit with some enormous impact.
“I’d also expect, with Sony’s joined-up company under Sir Howard Stringer, for 3D to make its mark in PlayStation land in 2010. I don’t think it’s too early for at least some key journos in gaming to be delivered 3D Bravias with copies of Heavy Rain 3D, the David Cage Director’s cut. I then expect these key hacks to go potty about the system in the same way as they did about the benighted Beatles and the sad as all shit Saboteur.
