The Avengers 2 confirmed as Avengers: Age Of Ultron

As if the Man Of Steel sequel news wasn’t a big enough story for one day, the Marvel panel went and announced the title of The Avengers sequel , and it’s one that’ll no doubt delight comic-book fans.

Yep, it’s officially called Avengers: Age Of Ultron . Joss Whedon revealed the news by taking to Comic-Con’s Hall H, and saying very little before rolling into a teaser video reel.

Initially, the footage seemed to be of Iron Man, and featured glimpses of other Avengers as dialogue from the first film was heard over the top (“We’re not a team, we’re a time bomb).”

It was only at the end of the brief clip that we saw a robotic face that wasn’t Iron Man’s, but Ultron’s. His glowing red eyes emitted a laser beam that became the new logo and title treatment .

Ultron is a superpowered sentient robot, who has been appearing in comics in various guises since the ‘60s. It often takes a big team to bring him down, so he should provide an ample villain for The Avengers.

Originally created by Ant-Man himself, Hank Pym, Ultron could be set to provide links to Phase Three and beyond. Let the wild speculation begin!
