Roberto Orci reveals Star Trek 3 will not use his script

Roberto Orci has confirmed that as well as stepping down from the director’s chair on Star Trek 3, his script is no longer being used on the forthcoming threequel.

Having vacated the position of director on account of creative differences, it makes sense that Orci’s script would also be surplus to requirements, and the man himself has confirmed as much via the Trek Movie message boards.

“I’m producing,” clarified Orci, when asked just what kind of input he would now be having on the project. “Nothing more or less.”

When asked who would be penning the new script, Orci responded, “I won’t lie, I don’t know yet, but the story we are talking about would be awesome, hang in there.”

The project recently unveiled Justin Lin as the new director, before revealing an official release date of 8 July 2016, which will see it arrive in time for the franchise’s 50th anniversary later that year.
