The chance to be a part of Star Wars is many an actor's dream. But the pressure of stepping into the shoes of one of Star Wars' most iconic characters might as well be a nightmare. Even so, the actress who played Leia Organa in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (which is to say the actress who had Carrie Fisher's face digitally transposed onto her own) says she would be down to do it all again.
Speaking to journalist Jamie Stangroom, Ingvild Deila said she'd be lying if she said she wasn't interested in doing a (purely hypothetical) young Leia film in the same vein as the young Han Solo movie currently being put together. "She's such an iconic character, and I really, really respect and admire Carrie Fisher and who she was. You can never replace her."
With Fisher's passing, fans have wondered how Lucasfilm and Disney will handle the character going forward. As someone who's somewhat close to the situation, Deila has her own thoughts on the subject. "I was just thinking 'What if it was me? How would I feel?' If they had to pay my living relatives or something, or forced to share the money, then yeah. I mean I’m dead, I don’t care. We need to establish a system where we do it right by their relatives or what they agreed on."
