Heavenly Sword CGI movie trailer seeks vengeance

Video game film adaptations emerge and disappear like wisps of smoke, but it looks like the cinematic retelling of Nariko's quest for vengeance is still burning bright.

Sony and Blockade Entertainment announced today on the PlayStation Blog that the Heavenly Sword feature film will arrive on digital distribution services and in select theatres in spring 2014, almost seven years after the game hit shelves.

Actress Anna Torv will reprise her role as Nariko as she seeks vengeance on the tyrannical King Bohan. Torv has gained fame for her starring role in television series Fringe since the release of the original game.

The film was screened earlier this year at the Cannes Film Festival, where Blockade said it was met with a positive reaction. The Ratchet & Clank film is still planned to hit theaters in 2015.
