Bond SPECTRE is Skyfall times ten says Daniel Craig

Daniel Craig has been talking about the difficulty in following up on the success of Skyfall and working out where the franchise should go next. While his tongue is slightly in cheek when describing SPECTRE as “Skyfall times ten”, it sounds as though the chance to dig further into Bond’s origins is what really interests him…

“I think everyone was just daunted, understandably,” Craig tells Esquire, when asked about the process of following Skyfall. “Like, it’s ‘the biggest British movie of all time’. What does it fucking mean? Where do we go from there? How do you process that? It could have been an albatross around everyone’s necks. It turned out not to be, but there was a massive amount of pressure at the beginning.”

“I think I’d just got it into my head that flamboyance was the way forward and fuck it, nothing touched him,” continues Craig, explaining that he had initially thought a more blasé, Roger Moore approach was the way to go. “But as we got into the story and rooted out the connections, they were too good to leave alone.”

However, a question mark does remain as to whether he will continue in the role beyond this film. “At this moment, no,” says Craig, when asked if he will return for another outing. “I have a life and I’ve got to get on with it a bit. But we’ll see. I don’t know. I really don’t know. Honestly. I’m not trying to be coy. At the moment I can’t even conceive it.”

007 will return. Whether or not he will be played by Daniel Craig, remains to be seen… Directed by Sam Mendes and co-starring Lea Seydoux, Christoph Waltz and Monica Bellucci, SPECTRE will open in the UK on October 26, 2015 and the US on November 6, 2015.
