It's time to hunt Jack the Ripper in Assassin's Creed Syndicate's DLC out today and the launch trailer is suitably exciting for Ripperologists. If you've got Google Cardboard you can get your head in the grim 360° experience or you can just drag around the environments in the video below but remember to crank it up to 4K.

If you want to see it for yourself with no spoilers, don't read any further, I'm going to go into some thoughts on the content in the paragraph below.

Right. Suitably caught up and ready for some Ripper conjecture? Here, let me light your pipe. So, interesting items to spot include an arm hanging around the door when you immediately enter the first room, but there's a slew of clues to the identity of Jack himself in the final room.

Should you choose to pause as he tosses a throwing knife into a photograph of Evie Frye, you can spin the camera around to take in the sights of Jack's bedroom. Most glaringly is the Assassin's symbol on the piano which suggests our grim murderer is part of the Brotherhood. He might also have been singing Phantom's Music Of The Night from that sheet music beforehand but I don't have any proof of that so let's carry on.

The wall coverings are also beard stroking levels of interesting. Jack smashes a mirror which just happens to be hanging next to William Blake's 'The Great Red Dragon and the Woman Clothed in Sun'. Another Blake painting, again of the Great Red Dragon hangs on the other wall. Both of these and smashing mirrors feature in Thomas Harris' Hannibal universe as key parts of the psyche of the Tooth Fairy (or Francis Dollarhyde). It looks like someone at Ubi has been watching too much Red Dragon and this definitely ties into the fact that Jack really doesn't like his face with that sack and top hat combo. What is he hiding underneath?

If we look at the Evie wall on the other side of the room, it's your standard mad man scrawlings but Jack is seriously gunning for Ms Frye. There are newspaper clippings with his writing declaring the inadequacy of the press and a 'HA HA' that just makes me all warm and fuzzy inside...

And finally, glancing over at the desk, there's a photograph with a face torn off. Once again, staple horror viewing as a man deletes his own imagery but for some reason keeps the photograph on his desk anyway...
