Wouldn't it be great to have Borderlands 2 on PS Vita? Yes it would. And speaking to attendees at the recent PC and Indie games show Rezzed, boss of Borderlands dev Gearbox Software, Randy Pitchford, made it clear he thinks so as well: "One of the things I wish Sony would do is get behind Borderlands, because I'd love to see a Vita version of the game." Hey, so would we. This sounds promising.
Mr Pitchford continues: "I want to be able to have the character I'm working on with my PS3, and then when I'm on the road with my Vita I can just keep developing that same character because it exists on the cloud somewhere." Yes, this sounds like a splendid idea. "Technologically, that's possible." Excellent news. So that's all settled then. Borderlands on Vita.
But wait, Mr Pitchford has more to say...
"Perhaps some of you folks can convince Sony to start that." Come again? "We're too busy to develop it ourselves." Oh. Right. "But I know there are a lot of talented developers who could take our code, our source and our content and perhaps create something like that." Er, yeah. We guess.
"That would be exciting to me." It would, wouldn't it? Be exciting.
And there we are. Some not very reassuring 'all-talk-no-trousers' support for Sony's handheld. A bit like the promise of BioShock for PS Vita, which is now officially on the backburner. Or Call of Duty: Black Ops: Declassified, officially announced and sporting an ugly pair of colons, but still - bizarrely - without an officially confirmed developer or release date. When we actually get to see either of these high-profile titles is anyone's guess.
And we're guessing it won't be for some time. Curse you third-party apathy.
