Must-have Lego UCS Millennium Falcon gets its first big price cut in months, so you better get after it like Boba Fett before it's gone

I genuinely don't think you can get a better Lego Star Wars kit than the Lego UCS Millennium Falcon, and it's currently £150 less than usual.

This is a limited-time offer, so let's get down to brass tacks: the biggest and best version of the ship, the Lego UCS Millennium Falcon, is now £588.98 at Amazon rather than the £734.99 sticker price. Besides being a 20% drop in cost, this offer is significant because the Lego Star Wars kit hasn't been so cheap in months.

Save £150 - Considering how this kit has been hovering around £610 for 180 days or more, getting even a 20% price cut is worth shouting about. Sure, it's not a record low price. But the model doesn't usually drop so significantly in cost. I doubt we'll see anything better before sales season toward the end of the year, either (we traditionally get the strongest discounts then).

Many Star Wars kits are deserving of a place on our list of the best Lego sets, but if I'm being honest, few can live up to the jaw-dropping majesty of this monster model. For starters, the scale of it takes you aback. Thanks to well over 7,000 pieces and a length of 33 inches, it's a showstopper in every sense of the word. So long as you've got enough display space, you could ask for a more impressive centerpiece.

It isn't just a pretty exterior, either; you can lift off the panels and their extensive greebling to reveal numerous rooms inside, from the cockpit to the main hold and hidden floor compartments. You even get one of those deep-space bat things to stick on the outside, just like the ones from The Empire Strikes Back when the crew take an unexpected detour inside a space worm.

Speaking of the crew, you get two versions here; the Empire gang of Han, Chewbacca, Leia, and C-3PO alongside The Force Awakens group featuring Han, Chewie, Rey, Finn, and BB-8. Would it have been nice to get Lando as well, seeing as he's also one of the Falcon's pilots? Of course. But this is still pretty good going nonetheless, and as our Lego UCS Millennium Falcon review says, "not since the ship first appeared on our screens in 1977 has the awe of the Millennium Falcon been recaptured until this UCS version. In fact, it’s the high point of the entire Star Wars Lego saga."

Put off by that cost? I don't blame you. That's a lot of credits to drop on a Lego kit. However, there are cheaper alternatives. The Lego Millennium Falcon (75375) is a lot smaller, yes, but I stand by it being an excellent display piece if you don't have room or budget for the UCS equivalent. Plus, it's currently £53.49 at Amazon instead of the usual £75. That's much more affordable by comparison, and it looks amazing to boot. I have this one on the office shelf myself.
