The Future 100 Issue

The Future 100 Issue

This month it’s all about the future of film. As we peer into our crystal ball, we reveal the film world's biggest movers and shakers of the next few years.

Naturally, it’s headed up by Bond. That’s James Bond, who’s sprinting back into cinemas later this year after a bit of an MGM-imposed rest.

Also, you may have already heard that Total Film is now available on your iPad. Try out our brilliant new interactive iPad edition ! Read about the key features of Total Film 's interactive iPad edition right here .

Fans of the good old-fashioned paper edition need not worry – this version ain’t going anywhere! Like the look of that coverline-free, subscribers-only cover? Well, subscribe to Total Film magazine then !

A Glimpse Of The Future

A Glimpse Of The Future

It’s that time of year again.

With The Future 100, Total Film takes a look at the films, people and events shaping the next 18 months of cinema.

We get the inside scoop on Tarantino’s epic ‘Southern’ Django Unchained , chat to Bradley Cooper about his ridiculously busy schedule, speak with Mark Ruffalo about going green, and grill Josh Brolin on his soon-to-shoot Old Boy remake.

Catching Skyfall

Catching Skyfall

Bond never goes away for long, and after a sizeable break following 2008’s Quantum Of Solace , he’s back with 23rd movie Skyfall .

Total Film visited the film’s set and shared a Martini with 007 himself, Daniel Craig, as well as the film’s director Sam Mendes and formidable new Bond villain Javier Bardem.

With complete global access to one of the hottest films of the year, we also nabbed some exclusive never-before-seen pics of Bond in action…

The Hobbit

The Hobbit

It seemed for a while that the big screen version of The Hobbit was fated to die a slow and agonising death. Luckily, that never happened, and returning director Peter Jackson's lined up a stellar cast of old and new faces.

Here, we get time with the franchise newbies, including Bilbo Baggins himself, Martin Freeman - and his Sherlock co-star Benedict Cumberbatch, who's got the honour of playing feisty fire-belcher Smaug.

On top of that, there's 'hot dwarf' Aidan Turner (yep, him off Being Human ), blockbuster hero Luke Evans and the "etheral and graceful" Evangeline Lilly (her words).

Pacific Rim

Pacific Rim

While Peter Jackson gets busy on The Hobbit , former Middle-earth hopeful Guillermo del Toro's been wasting no time setting up his own massive epic.

Pacific Rim 's a bit different to that big-footed yarn, though. For a start, it's got Idris Elba wearing one seriously cool cyber-suit, not to mention aliens vs robots...

We chatted exclusively to del Toro about filming his monster mash, which included rigging an entire street full of cars to vibrate with every step of a monster. Sounds big...

Into The Wild

Into The Wild

Like Kill List ? You’ll love Sightseers .

Directed by Kill List ’s Ben Wheatley, Sightseers is a pitch black comedy about a pair of caravanners who go on a murder spree on their way to the Lake District.

Total Film caught up with Wheatley on set in Penrith, where the director talked about the film’s comedy elements – a stark about turn from the guy who gave us Kill List ’s infamous hammer scene…

Buzz And Agenda

Buzz And Agenda

In this month’s Buzz, we chat to director John Hillcoat ( The Road ) about new film Lawless , take a look at Willem Dafoe’s stark and beautiful The Hunter and feature 2012’s freshest Brit flicks.

We also get Robert Pattinson on the phone to discuss David Cronenberg drama Cosmopolis , and talk to Stellan Skarsgård and Blair Witch director Eduardo Sánchez.

In Agenda, we profile Hollywood funnygirl Emma Stone, talk Scandinavian films and upcoming documentaries, and get the skinny on Amazing Spider-Man and The Hulk via comic connoisseur Stan Lee.

Vampire Hunting

Vampire Hunting

Know your history? You’ve never heard this one before, as Timur Bekmambetov ( Wanted ) helms the big screen adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith’s revisionist horror novel Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter .

We went on set to find out more about the project, and spoke to newcomer Benjamin Walker about playing America’s 16th president – which apparently involved five and a half hours of prosthetics.

Screen And Lounge

Screen And Lounge

Screen this month shines a spotlight on one of cinema’s most unusual pairings, as David Cronenberg teams up with Robert Pattinson for hard-boiled drama Cosmopolis . Plus we give our verdict on Matthew McConaughey’s Killer Joe , Snow White And The Huntsman , and Moonrise Kingdom.

In Lounge, Daniel Radcliffe bids a fond farewell to Harry Potter with creepy ghost flick The Woman In Black . We chat to the film’s writer Jane Goldman, and take a look at The Muppets , Young Adult and J. Edgar among many more.

The Total Film Interview: Jessica Chastain

The Total Film Interview: Jessica Chastain

Jessica Chastain’s had a hell of a year. After appearing in The Tree Of Life , The Help and Take Shelter , she’s undeniably the breakout female star of the past year, both dazzlingly beautiful and a magnetic screen presence.

With a packed slate of upcoming films, she’s going to be here for a while. Total Film caught up with her to chat about her exciting up-and-comers, including Kathryn Bigelow’s Zero Dark Thirty .

"I like doing different jobs," she says. "Sleep's overrated..."
