To celebrate the release of Studio Ghibli ’s latest animation From Up On Poppy Hill on 2 August, we’re going to have a daily rummage through the Spirited Away studio’s magical history

D is for Disney

What does the House of Mouse have to do with Studio Ghibli? The studio which is also home to Pixar and their own animation titles, Disney have been responsible for bringing Ghibli films to the masses internationally since 1996 (except in the UK where Studio Canal has kindly been responsible). One of the main figureheads in the movement has been Chief Creative Officer for Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios, John Lasseter… But more on him later.

The latest film from Studio Ghilbli, From Up On Poppy Hill , arrives in UK cinemas on 2 August. Featuring the voice talent of Gillian Anderson, Christina Hendricks, Jamie Lee Curtis, Anton Yelchin and Aubrey Plaza and is directed by Goro Miyazaki.
