Someone modded the original crappy acting back into Resi Evil HD and it is glorious

If you've never experienced the first Resident Evil as Capcom originally intended, with its terrible(y brilliant) live action opening and school play acting, then you've missed out big in life. It's was awful but beautifully so.

Now, at least, modder Bunny as gone part of the way to restoring what once was with a PC mod (opens in new tab) that replaces the replacement dialogue in the remastered edition with the crappy original PS1 recordings. "It took me a long time to finish this mod mainly because there were more than 500 audio files to edit". That does not sound like fun. Worse: "The dialogues were already mixed with sound effects like footsteps, gunshots, enemies, etc. So at some point the editing process became tedious and I had to take breaks more often."

Still, he soldiered through and this is the result:

If you're playing on PC then you can grab the mod here (opens in new tab).
