Richard Curtis’ latest directorial effort, About Time , is in cinemas now.
Telling the story of Tim (Domhnall Gleeson), it features all of the Curtis staples (bumbling but charming hero, cosy locations, endearingly sweary British humour) but throws in a new element: time travel.
Yep, Tim learns from his dad (Bill Nighy) that he's the latest in a line of male time travellers who can hop back in time with little more than a clench of the fists. So it’s fitting that we marked the release of the film by getting Curtis to guide us through his movie past, present and future.
Rattling through everything from his early days writing sketches with Rowan Atkinson, to his sitcom hits, to the enormously unexpected success of Four Weddings And A Funeral and the random idea that sparked Notting Hill , as well as his directorial efforts Love Actually , The Boat That Rocked and About Time , it’s a fascinating interview.
For insights into the scriptwriting process, a glimpse into the mind of Steven Spielberg, and an update on his proposed retirement, getting watching the video now.
