Every so often we get the chance to buy something we already purchased in 2000. This one, however, is totally worth it. Parasite Eve 2 is now available for PSP and PS3 via the PlayStation Network, and the port appears to be strictly loyal to the original version, except for its price, which is only $5.99 on PSN. If you don't have a working PS2 or — for whatever reason — missed PE2 the first time round, check it out. We'd link to our retro-review that gives it a great score, but we don't have one because nobody reads those things.
Parasite Eve 2 is a rare survival-horror and role-playing mash up, telling the story of Aya Brea, a former NYPD officer who survived the PE1's Mitochondrion crisis in NY. After the events of the first game, Aya moves to LA and joins the FBI's Mitochondrion Investigation and Suppression unit, where — wouldn't you know it — everything goes to hell again. A new breed of Neo Mitochondrial creatures emerge, and Aya must stop them using both a mana pool that grows as she gains experience and grenade launchers.
