Even though New Super Mario Bros. 2 is just around the corner, Nintendo’s been keeping their cards fairly close to their chest. Sure, we know that it has Mario, a co-op mode, and the goal of collecting 1-million coins, but there’s a lot more lurking just under the surface of what Nintendo’s shown.

Our partners over at GameXplain have dissected the latest trailer and gameplay footage to uncover some pretty surprising secrets. They take a look at new enemy-types you may have missed, what the new level backgrounds might suggest, and estimate how long it might take to actually collect the ridiculous goal of 1-million coins!
