After weeks and months of speculation, Marvel has officially confirmed that Paul Rudd will be playing the title role in Ant-Man .
According to an official press release, Edgar Wright had long identified Rudd as the man for the job, with the studio praising the actor’s ability to bring “several dimensions” to a role.
“When Edgar Wright came to us with the idea of Paul Rudd, we felt a huge sense of relief because the first step in creating any Marvel Studios film is finding the right star,” said Kevin Feige.
“We knew early on that we had found the right person in Paul. When he not only agreed to do it but became as enthusiastic as any actor we’d ever met with about doing the work, we knew we’d found the right guy.
“We couldn’t be more excited for our audiences to see what he’s going to do to bring Ant-Man to life."
Ant-Man opens in the US on 31 July 2015, with a UK date still to be confirmed.
We sat down with Rudd only last week to discuss what were then only stringent rumours. Watch his evasion-y answer below.
