Despite starring in an adored – but still low-rated – TV show in the states, Veronica Mars actress Kristen Bell hasn’t had the best luck with movies. Her most recent was the god-awful horror tale Pulse, so you can understand her trying to find better scripts to work with.

Step forward fellow cult TV icon Jason Segel, best known for short-lived show Freaks & Geeks and currently getting a much wider audience with network sitcom How I Met Your Mother. He’s written a film called Forgetting Sarah Marshall and will co-star in it alongside Bell.

The story finds a heartbroken bloke heading to Hawaii to get over his ex-girlfriend (Bell). But – surprise! – she’s staying at exactly the same resort, along with her sexy new boyfriend.

Nick Stoller – who worked with top comedy producer/director Judd Apatow on Undeclared and Fun With Dick And Jane - is jumping into the director’s chair and given Segel’s history with Apatow, chances are this will be something funny. The team will shoot in Hawaii (because they apparently all want a nice holiday too) and LA this spring.

But that’s not the only upcoming movie with Bell. She’s also attached to co-star with William H Macy in Antique, an indie drama. Renji Philip is directing the tale of eight residents in LA’s hip Echo Park area, as they struggle with painful pasts. Bell is playing Claire, a young woman who befriends a homeless man (Macy). Also starring are Rachel Leigh Cook as her manipulative best friend, Lolita Davidovich as her alcoholic mother and Kevin Zeegers as her druggie boyfriend. This one will also be a barrel of laughs… Well, maybe not.
