The Amazing Spider-Man 2 ’s production schedule continues to gather pace, with Variety claiming that Jamie Foxx is currently in talks with Sony to play the film’s big bad, the supervillain Electro.
Just last month we learned that the series’ core trio of director Marc Webb and co-stars Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone would all be appearing, and now it seems they are to be joined by some Oscar-winning talent.
Electro is an antagonist with the ability to control electricity, a power he developed after having been struck by lightning. If you’ll cast your minds back to the post-credits scene in Curt Connors’ jail cell, you might remember the arrival of that shadowy figure being heralded by a lightning storm… just a thought.
Foxx will line up alongside Shailene Woodley, who is expected to make a brief appearance as Mary-Jane Watson, while it is also thought that Martin Sheen will reappear for a few Uncle Ben flashbacks.
“Dressed up as Electro for Halloween last night,” tweeted Foxx yesterday. “Costume fits well.” If that’s not a confirmation, we don’t know what is! The Amazing Spider-Man 2 opens in the UK on 18 April 2014.
