Inspired by his mum, director Ken Wardrop’s charming but bland doc opens with the proverb: “A man loves his girlfriend the most, his wife the best, but his mother the longest.”

There’s nothing to offend any of those parties here, as 70 women from Ireland’s rural Midlands speak with tender wit about their men.
