    Where to find Orichalc

    First take your hoe and hammer to the mine by the hotspring. Then, dig around the 1st mine floor until you find some stairs. Continue until you get to the 10th floor. Then, hammer some minerals and you will hopefully find orechilic! (if you get tired you can dig for black herbs or you can leave and go to the hotspring.)

    Upgrading Tools

    To upgrade a tool you have to have several things. One, you need an ore so that a new tool can be made. Ores are found in the spring mine, next to the hot springs. Here you can smash the rocks to get certain ores, or dig with your hoe to get coins in the ground, or stairs, that lead you down further into the mine. The further you go, the more valuable the ores become. They range from, coal, copper, silver, gold, mysthil, a blue ore used for ultimate upgrading, and orichal, which can only be used to make jewelry. To upgrade you also need experience w/ a tool. Experience comes with using the tool. The more you use it, the higher a level the tool can be upgraded. To check the level of upgrading available, press select, and go to the lat page with all the tools, and the bars going across. The bar has different colors...
    red=bronze ore
    grey=silver ore
    yellow=gold ore
    blue= mystril ore
    When each bar is full then it will change color, and you can then upgrade ur tool to what ever color it was before. Example...
    if the bar was red, and then turned grey, you could then get a bronze too. You must wait until the grey color disappears before getting a silver tool. Finally, you must take both the tool and the ore you want to upgrade with to Saibara, the blacksmith. He will charge 1000-4000 depending on what ore you are giving him. He will stay with the tool for a certain amount of days so he can upgrade it, so make sure your not going to need that tool.

    How to Befriend the Harvest Sprites

    To befriend with the Harvest Sprites you need to give them presents. If you have 3 or 4 hearts to a sprite you can play a mini-game with them or ask them to go to your farm & help you with your household chores.

    Evening Wildlife

    This will only happen at night when your cattle and chickens are outside. At night, sometimes wild dogs will come and try to scare off your cattle and/or chickens. The only way to save your cattle is to have a wooden or stone fence protecting them, with plenty of grass in it to keep them safe. There are three ways to tell if there is a wild dog on your farm:

    1. You hear very loud barking.
    2. You see it on your farm map.
    3. You see it running past you.

    There are three ways to make a wild dog go away:
    1. Have your dog chase it away. Your dog has to be outside on your farm to chase the wild dog away. Your dog does this on his own.
    2. If you want to be violent, hack away at it with your hammer, axe, scythe, or hoe.
    3. Put your dog inside and wait for it to leave. Don't worry, it can't get to your animals if they are all inside the fence.

    More Money

    To get more money in Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town, buy a basket from the store for 5,000gp. When you have the basket, go to the hot spring mine and mine the minerals and put them in your basket to be shipped. Keep doing this until you have all the money you need. This also works for the winter mine, but you'll usually get more money per trip.

    Things to Do During Winter

    The winter month does not allow you to grow any crops. However, your pursue for $$$ does not have to come to a halt. You can still get money from your livestock. As far as I know, cows and sheep cannot be let outside to graze. However, chickens can be left outside to get food, as long as there is no storm, or snowing. If it is they must be inside and fed chicken feed. The honey thing still produces honey. The lake mine, the one in the middle of the lake that was unreachable because of, um, lets see, THE LAKE!!!, can now be reached because the lake has frozen over. In this mine, there are a bunch of new ores that can be mined and serve the sole purpose of being sold. And usually for $100+. Fishing can also bring you great profits. For better results, get your fishing rod upgraded so that you can catch bigger fish. You can do this at the beach, the spring, or other little brooks and streams around the farm.

    Girls

    As life continues, yu might get lonely and are looking for a mate. The girls in this game are perfect for you. There are in total four eligible bacheloretts.
    Ann>> works at Doug's in. You can find Ann here almost all the time. Sh is either on the first floor or in one of the rooms upstairs. Her dad, Doug owns the inn. Ann likes chocolate, flowers, your dog, homemade meals, anything homemade. DO NOT.....give any piece of jewelry if you are not at least a yellow heart with her. I gave her a necklace when she had a grey heart and she hasn't spoken to me since.

    Karen>> works, and apparently lives, at the super market. I haven't really seen her around anywhere else but here. Ann doesn't like chocolates. She's into nature, so get her anything from your farm or something you find in the woods. If you want to marry Karen, make sure to go after her right away. Won, the merchant also has his eyes on her so you have to act quick before he gets her.

    Popuri>>lives at the chicken farm. She is very nice to new comers. This is really the only place you'll ever see her, so if she isn't here try another time. She will accept almost anything except things from the woods. She is really into wool, milk, eggs, mayo, yarn, and cheese. so basically any product coming from your livestock. Again, someone else is after this girl. Kai, the little pirate look alike guy at the beach house wants to marry popuri, so act fast.

    Mary>> is the towns librarian, so its a no brainer that she is either in the libray at the north west end on town, or in her house right next door. Mary is kind of a mystery to me and I don't know much about her. I think she likes bugs and animals though. Saibar's randson, the one with the hat who was Ann's bro. in the N64 version, has his eye set on her after she helped him take care of an injury he suffered in the workshop. Act quick before she is taken.

    All the girls like gifts. But for a gift actually take effect, it has to be wrapped in gift paer. This can be bought at the market. Cost=100, very cheap and worth it. To get a girl to marry you, she must have a bright red heart for you. You must then look for the blue feather which is either at the black smith,or with Won at Zack's house on the beach. Certain girls you marry give you an advantage. For example,,,

    Ann>>discount at Doug's inn on food
    Karen>>none that i know
    Poopuri>>helps you fedd and take care of livestock and her mom charges less for animal medicine.
    Mary>>none that i know

    Infinite Eggs

    To do this cheat you must have 1-4 chickens that lay eggs. take all the eggs and put them into the shipping box. Once you have done this turn off the game boy and turn it back on. The chickens will have layed more eggs. You can do this as many times as you want. This is how I got max money in my first year.

    How to Get a Blue Power Berry

    Big Lake

    You need at least 10 cucumbers (you can grow them in the spring) and it can be any season but winter. Take one cucumber with you and go to the big lake (not the one near the spring mine). When you get to the lake, stand on the edge of it towards the middle. Then throw your cucumber into the water. The Kappa will appear before you (he's a little green swamp monster) and take your cucumber. He'll say,"You're annoying. Don't come back," but don't listen to him. Go home and finish your work, then go to bed. The next day throw another cucumber into the same lake in the same spot. Do this for 10 days and he will give you the blue power berry!
