"No reruns. No second chances" - Maingear is launching a $4,500 Crimson Desert gaming PC, but there will only ever be 30 made, so good luck locking one down

Apparently, two of 30 are already gone before the PC has been officially released for pre-order

Maingear likes to drop exclusive gaming PCs on our laps that will never be seen again after their initial run, and that's exactly how it's choosing to celebrate the launch of one of 2026's most anticipated game releases, Crimson Desert. In all honesty, I'm not sure I'd recommend its Crimson Desert gaming PC under normal circumstances, even if its specs are pretty heavy-duty. A PC this exclusive, celebrating a big game, and made by such a premium brand, is going to come with a high price tag though.

Available only at Maingear for a vomit-inducing $4,499, just 30 will ever be made. "No reruns. No second chances," says a press release. Thankfully, you can pay that hefty sum in instalments with zero credit, but you'll still need to get there in time to grab one of the 30 PCs going. If by some miracle, all 30 aren't snapped up immediately (Maingear's PCs tend to be within hours of their release), orders for the Limited Edition Crimson Desert PC will close on April 2.

Maingear Rush Crimson Desert Limited Edition: $4,499 at Maingear Custom PCs

I'm not sure I'd personally want to pay this much for these specs, but if this is a PC (and a game) you like the look of, I wouldn't wait around. Maingear's PCs are very popular and tend to disappear quickly - even when there are more than 30 in stock. The good news (I guess), if you're going to pay this much, is that you'll get a code for Crimson Desert as part of your purchase.

Specs: AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT, AMD Ryzen 9 9850X3D, 64GB of DDR5 RAM, 2TB SSD

The actual PC underneath the Crimson Desert decoration comes in a Maingear Rush chassis. There's a Maingear Epic 360mm AIO inside, and it's all working on an ASRock Phantom Gaming X870E Nova WiFi motherboard. The CPU is the AMD Ryzen 9 9850X3D, and the GPU is the Crimson Desert Sapphire Nitro+ Edition of the Radeon RX 9070 XT.

The transparent side of the Maingear Rush Crimson Desert PC

Navigating the RAMpocalypse in style, the PC houses 64GB of DDR5 RAM that's clocked at 6000MT/s, and you'll get a 2TB T-Force A440 (Gen 4) SSD. In essence, it's a very powerful gaming PC that'll more than cover you for playing Crimson Desert and more of 2026's demanding games.

And yet, I'm not sure I'd be jumping straight to buy one. There's certainly some fun livery artwork here for Crimson Desert fans to chew on, and it's nice that the non-transparent sides of the case have some visual flair too so that it doesn't just boil down to some stickers. It must be said though, that you could get similar specs in a gaming PC, or likely assemble them yourself for cheaper, so naturally, that $4.5 grand price tag is going to be one for people who are already very bought into the Crimson Desert hype.

More of the design flourishes on the Maingear Crimson Desert gaming PC

(Image credit: Future / Maingear / Pearl Abyss)

What I will say is that my experience with Maingear as a PC system builder has been top drawer. The Maingear Zero Ruby I tested was immaculate, and the customer service I experienced was second-to-none. Yes, this brand charges a bit more than others for its gaming PCs, and yes, you might struggle to lock down one of its designs you really like since they're often pretty exclusive to a season, game launch, or event. But there's a certain degree of quality assurance from Maingear I haven't seen from other system configurators.

The good news is that Crimson Desert launches today (March 19) and despite its lofty hype, it's reviewing pretty well. Considering games that have this level of excitement around them can usually go straight to masterpiece acclaim or follow the path of No Man's Sky and Cyberpunk 2077, Crimson Desert's Metacritic score of 78 (at the time of writing) could be a lot worse. Unfortunately, it seems as though that's not enough for some people, as the developer behind Crimson Desert has seen a share price drop of 30% since reviews were released.

One of my earliest memories is playing SuperMario64 and wondering why the controller I held had three grips, but I only had two hands. Ever since I've been in love with video games and their technology. After graduating from Edinburgh Napier University with a degree in Journalism, I contributed to the Scottish Games Network and completed an Editorial Internship at Expert Reviews. Over the last decade, I’ve been managing my own YouTube channel about my love of games too. These days, I'm one of the resident hardware nerds at GamesRadar+, and I take the lead on our coverage of gaming PCs, VR, controllers, gaming chairs, and content creation gear. Now, I better stop myself here before I get talking about my favourite games like HUNT: Showdown, Dishonored, and Towerfall Ascension.
