Hailee Steinfeld added to Ender's Game cast

After nabbing Hugo 's Asa Butterfield for the lead role in Ender's Game , director Gavin Hood has added another to his cast.

Hailee Steinfeld is in talks to play Petra Arkanian in the long-anticipated adaptation of Orson Scott Card's 1985 science fiction novel.

Oscar-nominated for her performance in True Grit, Steinfeld will play one of the few girls recruited to train to fight aliens.

She will befriend Ender at the Battle School where they will learn the techniques needed to save the world from an anticipated third invasion of the insect-like aliens.

There have also been whispers that Harrison Ford is in the running to play Battle School trainer Colonel Hyrum Graff after Viggo Mortensen passed on the role.

Ender's Game has been given a 15 March 2013 release date.
