Guild Wars 2's first major content boost goes live today with the Halloween-themed Shadow of the Mad King update. ArenaNet let our friends at PC Gamer take a look at the ongoing campaign of costumes, events, and new extra-seasonal content in a new preview video posted today.
The Holiday event will play out over four stages from October 22 to Halloween, October 31. Other than new group events, jumping puzzles, and harvestable candy corn (it is mined from the earth as we always suspected), the in-game Black Lion Trading Co. and its chests will feature new seasonal items and weapon skins fit for transmutation.
The update also brings along paid PvP tournaments and dungeons, one of which includes a host of environmental puzzles inspired by famed mind-blowing artist M.C. Escher.

I got a BA in journalism from Central Michigan University - though the best education I received there was from CM Life, its student-run newspaper. Long before that, I started pursuing my degree in video games by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo. I've previously been a news intern for GameSpot, a news writer for CVG, and was formerly a staff writer at GamesRadar.
