The Rampage movie - in case you forgot that game-to-film adaptation was happening - has kicked off production. And going by star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's social media posts, it is going to be one weird and wild ride. Over on Instagram, he has a curiously-worded synopsis of the film (emphasis mine):
"I head up an anti poaching unit out of Rwanda. My best friend is a rare albino gorilla named, George. Very bad people infect George, an alligator and a wolf with a serum. All three animals grow at an unprecedented rate. Their size, speed, agility and violent aggression is off the charts. They go on a deadly rampage and want to destroy the world.
George not happy. Me not happy. When animals like you, they lick you. When they don't like you, they kill you.
And when I find them, I will not lick them."
Thankfully, it looks like Johnson noticed how silly that last line was, and altered it for Facebook. Here he is discussing his work with Jason Liles, the mo-cap actor who plays George in the film. It's almost the same post, but Rock takes some time to give kudos to the man pretending to be his gorilla buddy.
Yeah, it sounds silly. But this is a movie based on a 1986 arcade game about giant monsters smashing up buildings. Drama was never going to be its selling point. As long as the monsters look cool and the destruction is plentiful, I'm in.
