Our hot and alternative Xbox 360 tips for 2007...
Kane & Lynch: Dead Men
Publisher: Eidos • Developer: IO Interactive • Formats: 360, PC • Out: 2007
If you've ever played Freedom Fighters or any of the Hitman games then you'll be familiar with the high benchmark of quality that developer IO Interactive has set itself and will appreciate why our trigger fingers are already twitching in anticipation of this brutal, team-based tale of two anti-hero nut jobs. If you're looking for something crammed with gutter profanity, bone-breaking physical violence and no holds barred shootouts then keep Kane & Lynch fixed firmly in your sights.

Stranglehold
Publisher: Midway • Developer: Midway • Formats: 360, PS3, PC • Out: 2007
We're sure that killing people shouldn't be as effortlessly enjoyable as this, but with the collaborative efforts of gun fu director John Woo and the team behind the excellent Psi-Ops responsible for this over-the-top action shooter, Stranglehold is primed to be one of the ballsiest, most beautiful, genuinely cinematic and pulse racingly thrilling experiences of 2007. Believe us, we've played it and it's warming up to be a ballistic blockbuster.

Crossfire
Publisher: Eidos • Developer: Pivotal Games • Formats: 360, PC • Out: 2007
Two's the magic number for this politically charged, co-op action shooter from the maker of the super successful Conflict series. Don't let this one be overshadowed by the similar sounding Army of Two - we reckon it'll arrive packing just as much, if not more, firepower than EA's mercenary duo.
Crossfire
Frontlines: Fuel of War
Publisher: THQ • Developer: Kaos Studios • Formats: 360, PS3, PC • Out: Autumn 2007
Kaos Studios knows about shooters - members of its team have worked on FEAR, Medal of Honor, Doom 3 and Battlefield mod, Desert Combat. This slice of next-gen, vehicle-heavy warfare promises to be a dazzling debut for the developer.
Frontlines: Fuel of War
Overlord
Publisher: Codemasters • Developer: Triumph Studios • Formats: 360, PC • Out: Summer 2007
C'mon - who hasn't dreamt of commanding an army of demented goblins for their own evil bidding? We know we certainly have, which is why we can't wait for this mischievously light-hearted fantasy adventure.
Overlord
Shadowrun
Publisher: Microsoft • Developer: FASA • Formats: 360, PC • Out: 2007
With magic for the wizard kids and gadgetry for the tech heads, this multiplayer-only first-person shooter should make for some fascinating team-based rucks on Xbox Live. We'll see you there with our cybernetic eye.
