Should you touch the Mearea Shrine in Heroes Olden Era?
The Olden Era Mearea Shrine is a beautiful homage to a powerful dragon, but its effects are unpredictable
During the Saving the Knight campaign quest, there are a few occasions when your Hero has the option to touch a Mearea Shrine in Heroes Olden Era. On your first interaction, Gunnar warns Lafiur that the shrine can be unpredictable, but that it can reward visitors handsomely. So, should you touch it or walk away?
Should you touch the Mearea Shrine in Heroes Olden Era?
The effects of touching the Mearea Shrine are somewhat random, based on your Luck stat, so whether you should touch it or not comes down to whether you're feeling lucky.
While Mearea Shrines appear during matches, they don't work in quite the same way, and it's the three that are dotted around the map during the Saving the Knight mission that I'm referring to here. You'll find two of them while playing as Lafiur, and another one as Gunnar. Going the long way round to interact with them as the other Hero doesn't change anything, so don't bother.
Article continues belowI've tested out the Mearea Shrines a few times, and can confirm that the effect changes at random for the second two, though the first always seems to grant 10,000 Gold, perhaps to give you false confidence. However, the other two, one marked by a horseshoe and one by the sun, give one of two random results.
The horseshoe shrine, representing Luck, can either boost or reduce both your Heroes' Luck stats for the rest of the mission. The shrine represented by the sun can blind you, reducing your sight radius, or bless you with an increased sight radius instead. It seems as though your chances of receiving the shrine's favor depend on your Luck stat - the higher your Hero's luck, the more chance of getting the beneficial effect.
Saying that, Lafiur's Luck stat may be zero when you reach the horseshoe shrine, meaning it could go either way. Of course if you get lucky, Gunnar will then have a greater chance of getting the best result from the third shrine. Have your luck reduced, and you'll probably be blinded by the sun.
