Now that Undertale and Deltarune creator Toby Fox has finally released his newer game's Chapter 5, fans are already looking forward to what's next – and, apparently, they'll have to wait until next year… or so the developer seems to say, casually at that.
Eagle-eyed fans have spotted Fox's quiet reveal on the official Steam page for Deltarune, further down under the "FAQ" section of the RPG's description.
The first question asks whether Chapter 5 is the "last chapter," to which the dev replies, "Nope! The story is still continuing, and more Chapters will be added for free over time."
It's the next response that has really caught folks' attention online, however.
The second question reads, "Then when's Chapter 6?" Fox nonchalantly responds, "We are aiming for a 2027 release! Meanwhile, we will be periodically releasing information on the development progress of the game."
So, in other words, Deltarune Chapter 6 is probably coming next year – although we're not sure when for certain just yet. Still, that's pretty great news… even if it did seemingly appear on Steam out of nowhere.

This aligns well with what Fox said yesterday before the big Chapter 5 launch – that "it's on to the next chapter" for devs now. Evidently, the Deltarune mastermind and his team have started chipping away at Chapter 6 now.
As for how the fans who found the next chapter's release window feel, threads over on Twitter show that they're understandably both excited – and confused about why Fox didn't "put this in the fucking game."
I mean, I get it. It's what he did with Chapter 4. Don't get it twisted, though – the community is still thrilled. "Thank the lord," as another comment says. "I saw no release window at the end of the chapter and was like, 'welp, guess I'm going to have to wait two more years.'"
As reassuring as it is, there is still disappointment about Chapter 6 not coming more quickly as well – but I'm personally just grateful it's underway at all. Chapter 5 has seen a record-breaking launch on Steam, with the RPG immediately breaking its all-time concurrent player peak, so to say fans are hungry for more would be an understatement.
