PlayStation announces God of War Laufey release date set for February, joining another packed month for video games
Days before Persona 4 Revival and Xbox's Fable reboot
Quickly following an action-packed reveal a few short months ago, PlayStation has put a concrete release date on God of War Laufey: February 16, 2026.
Sony Santa Monica creative head Cory Barlog announced the PS5 exclusive's new launch date at a San Diego Comic-Con panel, which was followed by a short and sweet clip posted to PlayStation's official social media that shows a brief golden logo. While God of War Laufey is available to wishlist now on the PlayStation Store, pre-orders and pricing information aren't yet available.

For those out of the loop, God of War Laufey is the first game in the bloody action series to not have main man and titular god-killer Kratos in the driver's seat. We instead follow the wife he lost before God of War 2018's introduction, Faye, as she travels an afterlife for the gods and potentially bumps into deities her lover once butchered. (Awkward.)
PlayStation debuted the game with a lengthy look at its epic opening and aerial combat just earlier this summer, perhaps making a release date of next February quite surprising. Despite Sony planning to axe physical disc production the following year, developer Sony Santa Monica have confirmed the game will launch on a proper disc, not a code-in-box.
Next February is also shaping up to be another scarily packed month for new games. God of War Laufey is joining a crowd of blockbusters hoping to find refuge after GTA 6's huge impending launch, which includes Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis (February 12), Persona 4 Revival (Februay 18), and Xbox's Fable reboot (February 23).
