Voice chat and messaging platform TeamSpeak has revealed that it has reached its "current hosting capacity" in many regions, including the US, due to an "incredible surge of new users." This reveal comes shortly after its direct competitor, Discord, announced a new age verification policy.
Posting on Twitter from the official account, TeamSpeak writes, "With the incredible surge of new users joining TeamSpeak and subscribing to communities, current hosting capacity has been reached in many regions, especially in the United States. We're working on expanding availability across additional regions. Thank you for your patience as we scale to meet the growing demand!"

TeamSpeak emerged as a competitor to Discord back at the start of 2025. Even then, Discord users had been seeking an alternative to the platform thanks to a number of changes, including the new hugely unpopular policy of pushing its paid Nitro subscription.
Earlier this month, Discord announced that it would be implementing age verification in order "to change certain settings or access sensitive content." Users would be set to 'teen' by default and would then only be able to access certain features if they upload their ID. This announcement came just months after another statement in October 2025, revealing that 70,000 users' government IDs, uploaded for age verification, had been leaked.
TeamSpeak advertises itself as a private app, where personal information does not have to be uploaded. However, it should be noted that if people subscribe to a paid community server, they will need to upload credit card data, which can also be used for age verification purposes.
