In between trying to keep his kids from playing with his Oscar statuette, Forest Whitaker has been out looking for new, interesting work.
And his next job looks to be something interesting… He’s close to signing on the dotted for Fox Searchlight’s The Night Watchman, which already stars Keanu Reeves.
With an idea by iconic crime novelist James Ellroy, Watchman finds a veteran LAPD officer (Reeves) down on his luck and finding solace in drink after his wife’s death. The dishevelled police officer finds himself implicated in the execution of a colleague and ends up going against his former mentor (Whitaker) as a manhunt kicks off.
Harsh Times director David Ayers is really planning to stretch himself with this one, as troubled cops are really not his forte. Oh, hang on…
