The Possession has released a first official trailer, in which young Natasha Calis finds herself feeling a bit unusual after opening a mysterious box she buys at a local yard sale.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan plays her concerned father, who soon establishes that the box is marked by the symbol of a Hebrew spirit, said to steal the souls of children. He also learns that when such a box is opened, people tend to start dying.
Terrifyingly, it seems as though there's something malign inside the poor girl, and we mean that in a very physical sense…

Yes, you did see that correctly, that was indeed a hand inching its way up the inside of Calis' throat. In terms of creepy imagery alone, this one already looks to be scoring high, and with Sam Raimi on production duties, we'd anticipate plenty more chills to come.
Directed by Danish helmer Ole Bornedal, The Possession will open in the UK on 31 August 2012. In the meantime, check out the ickily "hands-on" poster for the film below. Seems like that scene actually happens...
