With its realistic city setting and blood-soaked fight scenes, Daredevil: Born Again has always been a pretty serious show. It is a superhero show, though, so things can get a little sillier on occasion.
Marvel fans were left tickled pink by a surprisingly funny moment in season 2, episode 1, in fact, in which Benjamin Pointdexter AKA Bullseye (Wilson Bethel) rescues Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) from an AVTF squad. After the former took out the officers, he threw a knife, engraved with the words 'you're welcome' and a target symbol, close to Matt's head – and now viewers are wondering whether he had blades with other phrases cut into them just in case things went pear-shaped.
"Does this imply that he kept stalking Matt and waiting for him to lose a fight, or did he have different engraved knives depending on what happened?" wrote one Twitter user, as another joked: "I love when villains have enough free time to do theatrical stuff like this."
"Yeah, I think Bullseye definitely stalked Matt and he found out Murdock is Daredevil, and that he helped him indirectly escape," a third, more plot-focused watcher replied. "That's why he said 'You're welcome.'"
Others were amused by the fact that Bullseye used a written message to communicate with a blind man, though we'd argue that with his heightened senses, Matt would've easily been able to feel the words.
Bethel himself even got in on the joke after the episode, officially titled '', aired. Taking to Twitter, he shared a meme of the knife reading "you're cute" instead, alongside the caption: "Dex's love language".
