A new teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie featuring all of the film's characters has been released... and those are definitely some Pikmin, y'all.
In the brief clip, which can be viewed below, we get a teeny tiny glimpse of a trio of Pikmin... which have never had a meaningful crossover with The Super Mario franchise save for the odd Easter egg or unlockable feature. It does make me wonder if the movie, which takes place in the dreamy outer space scenery we all love and recognize from Super Mario Galaxy, will take us over to the Pikmin planet for a bit...
Pikimin are a species of cute lil' alien plant guys (some of them have wings!) that star in their own real-time strategy and puzzle video games, also created by Nintendo. The first game arrived in 2001, with Pikmin 4 arriving in 2023.
They're ready for their close up. Don't miss The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, only in theaters April 1. pic.twitter.com/IDaOyBzfvJMarch 17, 2026
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie also stars Chris Pratt (still), Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, Jack Black, Keegan-Michael Key, Benny Safdie, Kevin Michael Richardson, Luis Guzman, Issa Rae, Donald Glover, and Brie Larson. It's written by Matthew Fogel (Minions: The Rise of Gru) and directed by returning filmmakers Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic.
As a grown woman who cries pretty easily at cute things, it's going to be very hard for me to get through the new film (as I might've sobbed every time Lumalee was on screen in the first movie).
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 1. For everything else coming soon, check out our guide to all the upcoming movies in 2026 and beyond.
