Sofia Coppola's new film The Bling Ring has acquired Emma Watson as one of the leads in its ensemble.
The film will focus on the true story of a group of fame-crazed teenagers who begin burgling the homes of celebrities in Los Angeles. What starts out as youthful fun spins out of control and reveals a sobering view of modern culture.
As well directing, Coppola has also written the script. Coppola is notorious for providing females solid leading roles: think Scarlett Johansson in Lost In Translation or Kirsten Dunst in The Virgin Suicides. She has also proven skilful at bursting the celebrity bubble in Somewhere .
Coppola said of the casting process, "I'm excited about the young cast we're assembling and I'm looking forward to shooting on location here in Los Angeles."
There's no word on a release date as of yet, so don't expect anything till next year.
