Disaster: Day of Crisis news quake

Wednesday 10 May 2006
The first details of Disaster: Day of Crisis - which was unveiled at today's Nintendo pre-E3 press conference - have emerged and shed a little more light on this intriguing new Wii title.

In the game, players assume the role of Ray - a former member of an elite rescue force - and must weather the storm as a barrage of natural disasters pummels the United States. The catastrophic game of cat-and-mouse includes racing away from hot volcanic rock and ash, dodging falling debris during an earthquake and swimming in a torrent of flood water.

Above: Players will have to survive Mother Nature's fury and retrieve a stolen nuke

Among all the bedlam - and as if all that isn't enough to cope with - a nuclear weapon has been swiped by a rogue special forces unit and, guess what, Ray is the only man with balls big enough to hamper their plans.

Quite how the Wii controller will be utilised in all of this chaos is unclear, although we're pretty sure that there will be plenty of frantic arm-waving involved along the way.

We'll be doing some of our own frenzied gesticulating with Wii on the show floor at E3, so stay close for more news on this and Nintendo's other games.

I don't have the energy to really hate anything properly. Most things I think are OK or inoffensively average. I do love quite a lot of stuff as well, though.
