As Marvel continue to dominate the comic-book movie world, Anthony Mackie has bigged up next year's Captain America: Civil War as a “stupendous ride”.
While talking about his next movie, Kevin Costner drama Black Or White, Mackie took the opportunity to give Collider an insight into just how big the next Captain America movie will be.
“Let’s just say it’s a wing-ding-doozy of a time,” he says. “The great thing about it is, after seeing The Avengers, I joked and said Captain America 2 was Avengers 1.5.
“Now with Avengers 2 coming out… Captain America 3 is so far beyond Avengers 2.5 and onto the realm of Avengers 3.8. It’s by far one of the most stupendous rides Marvel has put together.”
Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Captain America's third solo outing will adapt the fan-favourite graphic novel Civil War.
And with a cast that includes Mackie, Scarlett Johansson and Robert Downey Jr – plus that storyline, which will have huge repercussions throughout the Marvel-verse – we have no trouble buying into Mackie's “stupendous” claims.
Captain America: Civil War goes into production later this year and opens in the UK on 6 May 2016.
