BioWare making Sonic RPG

So, the GR staff starts rolling in today and one after the other you hear the same phrase shouted above all else - "BioWare is making a Sonic RPG?" Not only is this bit of baffling news totally true, but it also comes with little to no extra information. The game is due in 2008 solely for DS, but that's about all the world knows.

In case you're unaware of how crazy this is, we'll spell it out. Sonic games have sucked hard for like eight years now. BioWare has made nothing but outstanding games in that same general time period, including Neverwinter Nights and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Thus, the idea of a mind-blowingly good Sonic RPG from BioWare is, in fact, mind blowing.

It's not unprecedented though. Sega has of late teamed with many Western developers, including Bizarre Creations (The Club), Obsidian Entertainment (upcoming Aliens title) and Silicon Knights (of Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes fame). Count on updates as soon as there's more to talk about.
