What's out for mobile this week?

The new year is off to a slow start in the mobile universe, with only a few games released in the past week. Too much celebrating and partying, most likely. Not to worry, though, as the iOS and Android games that did come out are good enough to keep you warm until more games start popping up on the App Store or on Google Play. From a physics puzzler to a detective game, this weeks selection is small but still packs a punch.

So grab your phone, tablet, or trusty thingamabob and start heading to the App Store or Google Play. Will you confirm purchase? We think you should.

Farm Heroes Saga (Free)

Farm Heroes Saga (Free)

The creators of Candy Crush bring the addictive Facebook game to mobile devices to let more players experience the fun of matching vegetables together. Each level in this match-three puzzler requires you to gather up some vegetables or other farm-based items together by matching them up within a set number of turns. Think Candy Crush, but with chickens and carrots. 100 levels are currently available, so if youre new to the series, you can play it on the go and then explore hundreds more on your browser. Moo.

Eternity Warriors 3 (Free)

Eternity Warriors 3 (Free)

The third installment in the Eternity Warriors series brings even more hack-and-slash action to your mobile device. This time around, you can choose from a mage, warrior, or monk and take on hordes of enemies and power up your characters and equip them with all the loot you pick up. Explore dungeons, battle huge monsters, and even go online and do it all with friends in this freemium game. Its not an MMO, but its sure damn close.

Jet Car Stunts 2 (Free)

Jet Car Stunts 2 (Free)

Jet Car Stunts 2 is a unique racing game that takes place above the clouds and has you speeding on floating platforms through various modes. A sequel to a racer released five years ago, this game still retains its simplistic design but features plenty of challenges in the form of races, stunts, and free-for-all matches that reward you with points based on how crazy your driving skills are. If you decide to pay for some bonus unlockables, youll also get access to a stage creator and lots more levels to fly through.

Detective Grimoire ($3.99)

Detective Grimoire ($3.99)

Detective Grimoire plays like your typical point-and-tap adventure, but it also features some deducing and puzzle-solving while you're on the case to discover the culprit of a murder. Youll find items, examine evidence, and then ask people questions to weed out possible suspects. Simple puzzles add some variety to the game's otherwise straightforward format. Fans of Professor Layton and even Phoenix Wright will no doubt enjoy playing detective and finding out who the real murderer is.

Feed Me Oil 2 ($2.99)

Feed Me Oil 2 ($2.99)

The sequel to Chillingos physics puzzler brings gallons of more oil for you to play with. Each level challenges you to use several contraptions to guide streams of oil into a designated area. The less tools you use to clear each stage, the higher your score will be, so youll sometimes have to rely on elements like ice and water to solve each puzzle as well. Sleek designs and some smart levels are sure to put your brain to the test.

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed ($4.99)

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed ($4.99)

Sonic and pals make their debut on iOS after a year of racing on consoles and PC. The game plays exactly like its other versions but does come with some mobile tweaks such as additional control options and even some (optional) in-app purchases. You can expect to play with a robust cast of Sega favorites including newcomer Ryo Hazuki from Shenmue. Local multiplayer lets you play with up to four players and you can also race your friends in synchronous and asynchronous online modes. Fans of kart racers wont be disappointed.
