Mark Hamill may have revealed a BIG Star Wars 8 spoiler

WARNING: This article contains potential spoilers for Star Wars 8.

It's fair to say that we didn't really get our money's worth when it comes to Mark Hamill's Luke Skywalker in The Force Awakens, but there's a good chance that won't be the case in Star Wars 8 (especially if scene descriptions like this turn out to be true). Whether or not we'll see the fan-favourite character after that highly anticipated film is anyone's guess though, and Hamill himself may have just revealed a clue to Skywalker's Star Wars future.

While interviewing Ray Davies at a special event in London over the weekend (via Den of Geek), Hamill told the crowd that "I finish Episode 8, and then I’m out of work", hinting that Luke Skywalker will not be a part of Episode 9.

The Force Awakens made it clear that these new chapters won't shy away from big deaths if it serves the story, and there's no question that Luke's death would hit hard. Of course, that's just one implication of what may yet turn out to be a throwaway comment by Hamill - for all we know he just hasn't got round to signing a new contract yet - so we'll just put this one under wait and see.

Directed by Rian Johnson and starring Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Laura Dern, Mark Hamill, Adam Driver, Gwendoline Christie, and Benicio del Toro, Star Wars 8 opens in cinemas on December 15, 2017.
