With a little help from my friends

With a little help from my friends

Big things come in small packages--or maybe small things come in big packages? Both seem to be true for LittleBigPlanet 3, the devilishly cute PlayStation exclusive, where you play as one of four little sockpuppets traversing the great big world of imagination. But make no mistake: this fabric gang has big adventures planned, and they're taking you along for the ride starting 18 November.

Following in the footsteps of LittleBigPlanets 1 and 2, LBP3 puts you in the seams of a burlap character and tasks you with traversing a chaotic, side-scrolling world. The biggest difference this time is that Sackboy isn't your only avatar. There's also Swoop, a flight-ready sock-bird; Oddsock, a quick-on-her-feet doggish doll; and Toggle, who can switch between being a big guy and a little guy as his adventure demands. Each is uniquely capable of passing certain obstacles (Swoop can cross wide gaps, Oddsock can jump along walls, Toggle can stand on a spring while big then drop the weight and let fly), which gives the little-big worlds that much more variety. Plus, all four characters can be played together in seamless co-op, where new players can enter into a level with the touch of a button. Co-op even becomes critical to solving certain puzzles where just one doll won't do (though don't worry, the game can set you up with digital partners if need be).

As with all LittleBigPlanet games, user-generated content is a huge part of the experience. Characters are fully customizable, with plenty of cool get-ups to play with, and level-building is every bit as big as it's always been. Now with the addition of new characters, powers and puzzles, LittleBigPlanet 3 gives you even more to do, and plenty more to play with.
