Fans have wanted to see Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine suit up in the original yellow and black suit from the comics for years, and there’s a possibility that could finally happen in Logan. Jackman recently tweeted a photo of the classic costume with the caption, “THE ORIGINAL.”

Now that picture alone wouldn’t necessarily be enough to support this theory, but consider that Logan is directed by James Mangold - the same guy who, in The Wolverine, filmed a deleted scene featuring Logan being presented with his old-school costume - and the conspiracy theory isn’t looking quite so far-fetched.
Plus, there’s footage from the second trailer in which Logan holds up X-23’s X-Men comics in which the Wolverine character is wearing that same costume. He scoffs at it in the trailer, but perhaps there’s some truth found in those pages. Maybe they’re based on missions or events that happened in this cinematic world but fans just haven’t seen them play out on screen. And since this movie is supposedly Jackman’s last time playing Wolverine, maybe this is all pointing to a final showdown that has the two things fans have been dying to see for more than a decade: Wolverine in yellow, and an epic, R-rated berserker rage.
Is this evidence all circumstantial? Sure. But is it fun to think about? Absolutely. We’ll see if Jackman has a surprise up his (yellow?) sleeve for us when Logan arrives in theaters next month.
