Symphony of the Night spiritual successor hits Kickstarter from former producer

After priming the pump with last week's extensive breakdown of Symphony of the Night, developer and former Castlevania producer Koji Igarashi launched a Kickstarter campaign today for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. Billed as "A gothic, exploration-focused action platformer, designed by one of the godfathers of the genre," Bloodstained marks Igarashi's first return to a Castlevania-style game since 2010's Harmony of Despair.

Also attached to the project are Michiru Yamane, a long-time Castlevania composer with a decade's worth of haunting melodies under her belt, and developer Inti Creates, the team that helped bring both Mega Man 9 and Mighty No. 9 to life.

Bloodstained stars Miriam, "an orphan scarred by an alchemist curse which slowly crystallizes your skin." Item crafting, exploration, and RPG style character customization are all highlighted as key features of the game, building off the pedigree set by Symphony of the Night. More information on the game can be found on its Kickstarter page.
