8 great Game Of Thrones parodies

The skits of winter

The skits of winter

You know a show or movie has really made it when it starts being parodied by others and Game Of Thrones has certainly had its fair share of homages in the last five years. They range from the knuckle-bitingly dreadful to the genuinely hilarious. But how to sort the wheat from the chaff? Easy we've collected our eight favourites right here. Which one do you think is besteros? (Sorry...)

Game Of Chairs

Game Of Chairs

We're not sure how big the crossover audience is for Sesame Street and Game Of Thrones, but no matter. Game Of Chairs is a pitch-perfect collision of the two different universes. Yes, in this version there's not one, but three Iron Thrones (constructed from sports equipment, rather than blades), which the various characters (all spot on caricatures, by the way) are using in a game of musical chairs. It's a little long, but still very funny and the title sequence is surprisingly accurate.

Jon Snow's coming for dinner

Jon Snow's coming for dinner

This recent comedy skit starring Seth Meyers and Kit Harington is fantastic. While Seth and his friends make innocuous small talk and chat, Jon Snow displaced from Westeros with no explanation brings the party down by constantly bleating on about his dead family and lost love. He really does know nothing... about dinner party etiquette. Harrington is fantastic as the sulkiest Stark, playing it completely dead-pan while decked out in his full Night's Watch garb.

The Simpsons

The Simpsons

The Simpsons has one of the most iconic and familiar opening sequences on TV. And sure, it changes slightly week by week, but in season 23's The Ten-Per-Cent-Solution, the show went all out in paying tribute to Game Of Thrones. The theme music changed and the familiar tour of Springfield characters and locals became a clockwork map of the town. Nicely done plus we got to see Homer as a lazy knight, which seems about right. Watch it here.

South Park: A Song Of Ass And Fire

South Park: A Song Of Ass And Fire

Not to be out done by its animated rival, South Park dedicated an entire trilogy of episodes to parodying Game Of Thrones. Black Friday, A Song Of Ass And Fire and Titties And Dragons strong title work there, fellas find the gang desperate to get their hands on an Xbox One. Unfortunately, that means braving the Black Friday sales... The adventure involves a willy-obsessed George RR Martin and a song that will change the way you hear the theme music forever. The real George reacted in good grace, claiming to be a South Park fan, but saying that they should have made him obsessed with boobies.

Medieval Land Fun-Time World

Medieval Land Fun-Time World

It's a bit of a classic, this, from the ever-amusing Bad Lip Reading folk. Re-voicing footage from the show leads to a surreal story about Eddie (Sean Bean's Ned Stark) trying to get a medieval theme park up and running. Joffrey (or rather JoJo) likes to get freaky, but is still a bit of a douche and wants to buy some dope from Tyrion sorry, Terry. We're not sure why Jaime speaks only in whispers, but it's a hilarious detail. Check out the team's Walking Dead videos too.

The Ultimate Game Of Thrones Recap

The Ultimate Game Of Thrones Recap

Running behind on Game Of Thrones? Don't worry, this video from the funny folk at College Humor will get you up to speed. Er, sort of... In this world Ed Sterk is due to make a big comeback any day now, while Jeffrey is a beloved king. Plus Jon Snow gets to have sex with a snowboarder and the Red Wedding seems like a fairly jolly affair. While you're there, check out their spot-on 8-Bit RPG versions of the show.

Honest Trailers: Game Of Thrones

Honest Trailers: Game Of Thrones

Well, this certainly lives up to its name. Recutting scenes from the first three seasons of Thrones, this trailer previews the abusive show you keep watching no matter how many times it hurts you. It's certainly hard to argue with the description of Jon Snow as a mopey bastard or its suggestion that HBO uses boobs to distract from long scenes of dialogue. Yeah, sure, it's hitting a lot of easy targets, but it still made us chuckle.

Game Of Desks

Game Of Desks

Comedian and Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon finds himself in a Westeros-styled world in this parody of the US TV industry. Sweeps are coming and Fallon must win the Iron Desk if he wants to stay on air. To be honest, a lot of the references in this went over our British head, but there are some decent gags and their version of Joffrey is spot on.
